MA Plumbing & Fuel Gas Tier 5

The Tier Five Plumbing & Gas Fitting Program is the final stage of the Massachusetts tier education pathway, providing 110 hours of comprehensive code review, exam preparation, trade mathematics, and business instruction. Students consolidate the knowledge gained throughout Tiers One through Four while preparing for the responsibilities of licensure, code compliance, and professional business ownership. Course topics include: • Comprehensive review of Massachusetts Plumbing Code requirements • Detailed review of NFPA 54, NFPA 58, and Massachusetts Fuel Gas Code provisions • Large gas utilization equipment and applicable state amendments • Review of plumbing-related mathematics from all five tiers • Interpretation of plumbing code figures, diagrams, and installation details • Multiple-choice practice examinations and test-preparation exercises • Business structures, licensing requirements, and service models • Start-up costs, budgeting, insurance, payroll, taxes, and operating expenses • Accounting fundamentals and financial planning • Development of a professional business plan This final-tier program helps students strengthen their technical knowledge, prepare for licensing examinations, and understand the financial and operational responsibilities involved in running a successful plumbing and gas fitting business.
